Building Blocks for DNA Mimics

Symmetrically substituted pyrene derivatives have been synthesized with tuned electronicproperties. Depending on the type of substituents, significant changes in the spectroscopicproperties of the polyaromatic compounds can be achieved. Such type of derivatives serveas valuable building blocks for DNA mimics.

This work was carried out in the group of Prof. Robert Häner.
